Prevent Tooth Loss With Regular Check Ups

The prevalence of periodontal, (gum) disease is well-documented.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approximates that nearly 64.7 million in the U.S. suffer from some form of gum disease.  You do not have to be a part of this statistic.  Gum disease is wholly avoidable. With simple habits like daily brushing, mouth washing, and flossing you can ward off gum disease.  However, one primary tool to do so is a regular dental exam and cleaning.  Dr. Mehta and Associates uses some of the industry’s most advanced technologies to rid deep crevices and hard-to-reach oral areas clear of bacteria.  Need an appointment?  Call us at (951) 383-6858  if you are in Temecula or  (951) 667-1595 in you reside closer to Riverside.

Understanding Gum Disease

Gum disease is an infection of the gums.  As this infection lingers, it slowly breaks down teeth and their supportive materials.  The early stages cause inflammation of the gums due to the body responding to harmful bacteria.  Gradually the gums pull away from teeth, and the condition worsens.  Some of the consequences of advanced gum disease are:

  • Bleeding gums
  • Bad breath
  • Loose teeth
  • Heavy plaque and eventual tartar

Diagnosing & Curing Gum Disease Early

Prevention and early detection are the best ways to avoid gum disease and its long-term effects.  Nevertheless, even if you have a serious level of gum disease, it can be cured.  However, the first step is to schedule a dental appointment.  At Dr. Mehta & Associates, we will help you to overcome gum disease.  We make full use of dental cleaning strategies and method for early and late stages of gum disease.  Some of our cleaning methods include:

  • Gingival bacteria reduction
  • Full mouth debridement
  • Prophylaxis (prophy)
  • Site-specific laser therapy
